Hey, Awesome NaNoers

It recently came to my attention that I've gotten a lot of traffic on here from the YWP NaNo site. Thanks for visiting! I really need to make this more interesting, and public recognition is a great catalyst for that. to anyone seeing this site who doesn't do NaNo, you should. Writing a novel in a month is pretty awesome. There's a Young Writer Program at http://ywp.nanowrimo.org/, and a regular site at http://nanowrimo.org/. What is NaNoWriMo? You write a novel in September. And get to feel good about it.

In the summer between seventh and eighth grade, my family went on vacation to Disneyworld. My favorite day of the L***** Family Disneyworld Vacation was the day we didn’t go to Disneyworld. It was the day we went to Kennedy Space Center. That day, I fell in love . . . with the planet Mars. I had had a great day. I met an astronaut, looked at cool exhibits, was told that an astrophysicist could be a pilot on a space mission, and, I bought two books on Mars by some guy named Robert Zubrin. They were fascinating books, filled with information on how the colonization of Mars was not only possible but practical. When I read those books, I acquired a lifetime goal. I am going to live on Mars. I learned that people (a.k.a. NASA) can stay dedicated to impractical proposals that sound impressive but are ridiculously inefficient. But I also learned about dedication, goal-setting, and believing in crazy sounding ideas no one wants to try, and how to really care about a cause.

This is really by me.

They Are The Stars

Glittering like so many shards of glass,

Immeasurable as every grain of sand,

Soaring above all in an eternal dance.

They are our dreams,

Our hope for the future;

They are the stars.

We stared up and wondered: What are they?

They inspired and mystified us

As we circled around one at breathtaking speeds.

They are our dreams,

Our hope for the future;

They are the stars.

Every one of them whirls through the sky,

All-powerful rulers,

Their planetary subjects never leave their sides,

They are our dreams,

Our hope for the future;

They are the stars.

We search for their secrets,

Though to them we are ants,

But still we are drawn to them as a moth to a flame, for

They are our dreams,

Our hope for the future;

They are the stars.

Welcome!
